CHS SD 1.1.1       The College of Health Sciences (CHS) will support faculty scholarly research and creative endeavors.

CHS SD 1.2.1      The CHS will assess teaching effectiveness and use the results to enhance instruction.

CHS SD 1.3.1      The CHS will continually assess and strengthen academic programs.

EKU Goal 1: Academic Excellence

The DBGN faculty will demonstrate evidence of participation in professional development.

Assessment Method: Majority of tenure track faculty participate in scholarly activities.

The DBGN faculty will demonstrate teaching effectiveness.

Assessment Method: DBGN faculty average on Explorance Blue and Power by Blue faculty evaluations average will be 3.6 or greater on 5 point scale.

The DBGN will continually assess community of interest satisfaction with programs.

Assessment Method: Achievement of Professional Practice Outcomes—70% of graduating students who respond indicate they strongly  agree or agree that they have achieved the program goals.

Assessment Method: End of Program Evaluations & Follow-up Surveys: 70% of graduating students/graduates indicate satisfaction with faculty.

Assessment Methods- Program Satisfaction—70% of graduating students who respond indicate satisfaction with program, reported through End of Program Evaluations.

Assessment Method: Advisory Committee Survey—70% of agency representatives who respond indicate satisfaction with the graduates level of critical thinking ability, communication and collaboration skills,appropriate for their role.

Assessment Method: Satisfaction with learning resources—70% of graduating students who respond indicate satisfaction with learning resources.

DBGN will maintain program graduation rates at 80% or greater.

 

BSN

Assessment Method: Graduation Rate--Eighty percent or greater of the prelicensure students who complete the first clinical nursing course (NSC 380) and successfully complete the nursing program, within 7 semesters.

Assessment Method: Retention Rate—70% of newly admitted students each year will remain in the program.

 

RN-BSN

Assessment Method: Graduation Rate--Eighty percent or greater of the RN students who complete NSC 385 and successfully complete the nursing sequence, within two years, or are making satisfactory progress in the program.

 

MSN

Assessment Method: Graduation Rate-- Eighty percent or greater of MSN students who have completed the first clinical (NSC 800/802), which is the established point of entry into the MSN program, by the number of NP students who complete the program in three semesters or ADM students who complete in four semesters, or are continuing to make satisfactory progress in the program.

 

DNP

Assessment Method: Graduation Rate—Eighty percent or greater of DNP students who successfully complete the first course and the program, in seven years.

The graduates of the DBGN meet or exceed the national passage rates for Licensure and Certification examinations

 

Assessment Method: 

BSN (Pre-licensure traditional & 2nd degree)

Will maintain NCLEX pas rates great than or equal to 85%

 

MSN

FNP graduates will maintain certification pass rate greater than or equal to 90%.

PMHNP graduates will maintain certification pass rate greater than or equal to 90%.

 

DBGN students will be supported in scholarly achievements.

5% of DBGN students will participate in scholarly and creative achievements.

The students demonstrate an appreciation of cultural influences on healthcare.

Assessment Method: 5% of students will participate in activities with a cultural influence on health care.

 

The DBGN will demonstrate evidence of effective advising.

Assessment Method: 70% of students who respond to the End of Program Evaluation indicate satisfaction with academic advising.

DBGN support staff will be supported in professional development opportunities.

Assessment Method: The majority of support staff will participate in 1 professional development activity.

 

The DBGN will initiate social media accounts to attract students and graduates participation in EKU Nursing.

Assessment Method: The DBGN will develop at least one social media account each year.

 

The DBGN students will participate in the annual CHS Scholars Day.

Assessment Method: DBGN student partipication in annual scholars day will increase by 1% each year.

CHS SD 4.1.1       The Administrative Council for CHS will annually examine measures related to our financial effectiveness to include: workload, class size, and faculty and staff issues to strengthen programs.

Assessment Method: Faculty workloads will meet University policy of 12 credit hours per semester.

EKU Strategic Direction 5.1  Initiate and complete EKU Revitalization plan, which includes rehabilitation of existing facilities and construction of new ones with a focus on the EKU student experience.

CHS SD 6.2.1       The CHS will continue to strengthen quality community and regional partnerships.

CHS SD 6.2.2       The CHS will continue to bring distinction to our region with nationally recognized, accessible programs to promote engagement and improve health and quality of life.

CHS SD 6.4.1       CHS will offer college programs, activities, and events to encourage travel to EKU campus that improve health and quality of life.

DBGN will demonstrate commitment to Public Service and Regional Stewardship by continuing collaborations with regional partners to promote health and will serve the needs of underserved populations.

Assessment Method:  70% of Advisory Committee agency representatives who respond to the Committee Survey identify agency needs/desired competencies consistent with program objectives and curriculum design.

 

Pre-licensure BSN

Assessment Method: Intent to practice in Kentucky; 70% of graduates intend to practice in Kentucky.

 

RN-BSN 

Assessment Method: Intent to practice in state of licensure/or in underserved areas: 70% of graduates intend to practice in Kentucky and 1/3 of RN-BSN graduates and majority of MSN graduates intend to practice in an underserved area.

 

MSN

Assessment Method: Intent to practice in Kentucky/or in underserved areas: 70% of graduates intend to practice in state of licensure or an underserved area.

Assessment Method:  Employment data-- Majority of graduates who respond to Follow-up survey indicate they are employed in an advanced practice nursing role within six months of graduation.

 

DNP

Assessment Method: Intent to practice in state of licensure/or in underserved areas: 70% of graduates intend to practice in Kentucky or an underserved area.
